Tips for Gaining in Google
Posted on April 30, 2008 | Filed Under Search Engine Optimization, Uncategorized
Google tends to not rank new domains. In an effort to deter spammers from generating new websites, Google has implemented filters for new websites, which means that it can be a challenge for a new website to rank in Google’s organic search results until they are deemed trustworthy.

All Your Base Are Belong To Us!

If you played video arcade games in the late 80’s, even early 90’s, you might remember Zero Wing — a game in which a battle takes place in the year 2101, where you must defend the planet Earth from an alien invasion led by the dreaded warrior Cats.
Zero Wing may have been a favorite among teenagers, but like the Cabbage Patch doll the fad faded… Until Sega Genesis came out with their version of the popular arcade game in ‘98, giving Zero Wing new breath. But this time, one is offered an animated introduction in preparation for the space battle…
“In A.D. 2101, war was beginning.” And a dialogue between the ship’s captain and Cats ensued, offering these priceless gems:

The Myth of ‘Marketer’s Entitlement’
Posted on April 20, 2008 | Filed Under Business Management, Motivation, Productivity
One of the most important marketing lessons I’ve learned
recently came from Eben Pagan, founder of Double Your
Dating (dating advice for men), and the Altitude Program
(marketing and business coaching).
Since he created a 20 million dollar a year corporation in
less than 6 years, I take his advice pretty seriously.
The lesson I wanted to share with you has to do with the
interesting human quirk known as entitlement.
They may not say it aloud, but through their actions and
habits you can tell that they feel entitled to wealth,
success, and happiness. They think it’s “not fair” if
hardships, the economy, or any other obstacle pops up to
take what’s rightfully theirs.
People naturally want to believe that there is a gigantic
scoreboard in the sky that will balance the justices with
the injustices. That there is a celestial, or Infinite
Justice System at work.

Risk-Reversal’s Role Reversal
Posted on April 17, 2008 | Filed Under Copywriting, Uncategorized
The greater portion of my career has been in copywriting, selling and direct marketing. And one of the common denominators I’ve found in any successful piece of copy is the power of risk reversal. That is, taking more of a risk from the sale than the purchaser of your product.
The greater the guarantee, the greater the sales. This has been consistent in almost every industry in which I’ve worked, and with every split-test I’ve conducted. For example, a 30-day guarantee will outsell no guarantee. A 90-day guarantee will outsell a 30-day one. And so on and so forth.
However, there are some exceptions to this rule.

3 Simple Ways to Increase Blog Traffic
Posted on April 9, 2008 | Filed Under Blogging, Traffic Generation
by Robert Gneissman
Anybody can create blog quickly and easily with all the blog creation tools
available today. But once your blog is created, getting traffic to
the blog is another issue entirely. Just because you built a blog
doesn’t mean anyone will visit it. You must create traffic by
promoting the blog and the more traffic you drive to the blog the
more money you’ll make. Here are three methods I’ve personally used
to drive traffic to my blog. They’ll work for you too.
1. Add Fresh Content on a Regular
Basis
Once you’ve created your blog, it’s not time to forget about it. A new blog needs
regular blog posts until it becomes established in the search engines.
Try to update your blog with a new post daily for the first month. You
have to give blog readers and search engines a reason to come back to
your blog frequently and new posts are the best way.
Blogs are a favorite of search engines because there is new
content added on a regular basis but if you make frequent posts
neither the search engines nor blog visitors will return with any
regularity. On the other hand, the more often you make informative
posts and inject some of your own personality the more posts will be
indexed by the search engines and the more likely visitors are to
make repeat visits to your blog.
2. Find Related Blogs and Make Useful Comments
Another effective strategy is to make comments on
relevant blogs. A simple search on your favorite search engine should
reveal several blogs on similar topics. All other things being equal,
you’ll want to leave comments on higher PR blogs since those links
will be more valuable.
Take some time to read several posts on the blog to get a feel for
it. Then make a constructive comment to one of the posts. Don’t just
comment with some rubbish, contribute to the conversation. If your
comment adds value, people will be more likely to want to visit your
blog. Leave your name and a link to your blog to allow readers and
easy way to click over to your blog.
3. RSS
The third way to drive traffic to your blog is by building a
list of loyal readers. It’s very similar to building a list from a
squeeze page. Many autoresponder services have the capability to send
a notification by email to your subscribers whenever you make a new
post to your blog. This is an effective way to provide people who’ve
asked with a friendly reminder to visit your blog and read a new
post.
To build a list, all you have to do is put a simple opt-in form on your blog and ask
visitors to subscribe by giving you their name and email address.
That’s all there is to it and now when you make a new post to your
blog, the list will receive an email reminder. It all happens
automatically. You don’t have to do anything other than put the
opt-in form on your site.
There are many more ways to drive traffic to blogs and I’ll cover
those in future articles.
