Google SEO Tips: Choose Selling Keyword Phrases
Posted on May 8, 2008 | Filed Under Search Engine Optimization
We all want more traffic from Google. But here’s the thing: We don’t just want visitors, we want visitors who will do something.
We want them to fill out a form, buy a product, click on an ad.
When you are looking at keywords for your website or blog, consider targeting keywords that will not only give you traffic, but that will give you traffic that produces results.
In almost every market niche there is a very general term that gets the majority of the traffic. In one of my blog niches it is “marriage.” While that might bring the most traffic, it’s not going to be very profitable traffic. A much more profitable search term is much longer and much more specific. One of my most profitable terms is “how to seduce your wife”–which I have #1 position on Google for in most areas.
When you are researching phrases for your market, consider those phrases that point to an action you want your visitor to take. If you have a how to book, “how to” might be a good phrase to target. If you have a product to sell, “buy” is a great phrase to target.
