Get AIDA for A More Effective Marketing Technique

Posted on February 22, 2010 | Filed Under Online Marketing

So who’s Aida? Actually, Aida is not a person. It is a technique used by many marketers and expert designers to create a more effective marketing campaign for any business. AIDA is an acronym that stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action. It is a tried and tested formula to make the most successful advertisements, whether it’s a web page or a print sales literature such as poster printing.

Get attention; generate interest; create desire; and call for action – these are the steps you need to have in your marketing collaterals in order for you to generate leads for your business. The problem with most ads is that most designers aim to grab attention by applying bold and out-of-this-world elements to shock and overwhelm the target audience. Many websites even fall into this trap by flashing graphics that make it difficult for viewers to download easily.

Sure, you can get their attention fast; but can you get them to stay and be convinced – enough to make them want to purchase your product or service? Getting their attention is only one part of the process. Until you make them want to buy from you, you will never achieve the results you want from your marketing campaigns.

Here’s AIDA to help you retain enough of the attention so you can convince your target clients of your worth:

Get ATTENTION – Your ad in your poster printing for example, should be able to attract attention. That is, first and foremost, the objective of having a marketing campaign. Once you’ve gotten their interest, you are now ready to provide them information that would relay who you are and what you can do for your target clients.

Generate INTEREST – Sure, you were able to get their attention; so what’s next? Have your information provide them the reason to stay and know more about you and your business. It’s not enough that you got them interested. You should be able to make them want to stay with the information you have in your collateral. And what can make them want to stay are the benefits that you will tell them. The benefits that would make your offer more appealing than that of your competition. What is unique about your service? How are you different from the rest when it comes to the benefits that you can give your target clients?

Create DESIRE – Your information then can create the desire from your target clients to acquire and have whatever it is you are offering them. How can they get your benefits? What will they have to do to buy your products and avail of your services? This then leads us to…

Call for ACTION – The final step to a successful marketing campaign. Once you are able to convince your target readers or viewers to do whatever it is you’re asking them to do, and then it would be much easier to convince them to go and purchase your products and services.

So the next time you’re thinking of designing a new poster printing for example to market your business. Think of AIDA. It will help you generate not only the leads you need, but more importantly, it can create clients out of your leads which will get you the profits you desire.

Ways Twitter can make you money

Posted on February 22, 2010 | Filed Under Online Marketing

Twitter has definitely made its mark in the world of social networks but it has taken its time to reward the dedication of its Tweeters and their followers with cold hard cash. Unlike a true business website there is no direct way to make money using the service, that is not exactly what Twitter had in mind for the site when it was created. There are ways to use the site for financial gain, however. These routes can be labour intensive but are worth pursuing as the opportunity to extend your business network is most definitely there. Certainly for SEO professionals and web developers the very existence of Twitter brings in a certain amount of cash flow as clients request the ability to update Twitter when new blogs, products and media are updated on their sites. The recognition of Twitter as a source of content and links for SEO purposes and well documented, but there are also direct ways to use Twitter for commercial gain.

Many of the posts on Twitter are calls for help regarding a particular situation or with a product issue. By searching for the kind of problem your company’s products can solve, and replying to those posts it is possible to generate a good deal of revenue.

For recruitment agencies, twitter is an absolute goldmine. Companies will sometimes post in their status that they are looking for new people and by finding these posts a recruitment agency could get ahead of the game in presenting candidates. On the flipside of the recruitment industry, many tweeters are very well connected and have enormous amounts of internet presence, perfect for headhunting the right candidate for a premium role.

Twitter has already entered the national news on a couple of occasions, usually in association with a celebrity or a public figure, to the journalist following leads from twitter can result in some surprising (and exclusive) stories. While direct quotations are quite useless the core of a story may exist and prove to be worth further investigation.

Possibly the most common commercial use for Twitter, other than for SEO is for added value marketing. Many stores and events houses use Twitter to promote their marketing promotions. Ecommerce is another sector of the market that uses twitter in this way. By publishing discount codes and voucher downloads on Twitter you can expand the target group of your campaign massively. Because Twitter’s mini posts are not invasive this kind of marketing often receives a better response than a letter drop or direct email campaign.

Twitter’s ability to make money for its users is a topic of discussion on many fronts, especially as the site has made little or no effort to provide direct marketing tools. It is not clear how this may develop in the future but with such potential, it is unsurprising that some of the big players are looking very seriously at purchasing the system.

How Web Research Rescues Small Businesses from Failing

Posted on February 22, 2010 | Filed Under Online Marketing

Small businesses play a major role in the economy. According to Small Business Administration (SBA), small businesses represent 99.7% of all the employer firms in U.S. Though small businesses constitute major portion of all the businesses, they always struggle to sustain. SBA says that nearly 70% of small businesses perish within 10 years. There are many reasons for a business to fail and some of the major reasons are lack of proper planning, lack of industry knowledge, inefficient marketing, unable to differentiate between a true opportunity and just a new idea, lack of competitors’ intelligence and poor pricing strategies.

Unlike large corporate executives, small business executives or owners are hands on. They can easily have direct customer feed back and see actual ground reality. However, they also need big picture perspective and this is what it is missing. Earlier to get holistic picture of their industry environment, small business owners had to wait for a magazine or newspaper to do a cover story. Now they can search and find lot of information on Internet. Let us see how web research can help small businesses -

Defines marketing problems and opportunities in local markets
Small business owners are close to their customers and have a clear sense of their needs. However, there is chance to get carried away in identifying the opportunities and threats in the market. Web research begins with identifying the issues on a broader sense from different angles and defining the problems and opportunities. It captures the vital information on product consumption, the product substitutes and their reputation as well as other data that can trace out the problems and build the case.

Helps in setting objectives and budget
Lack of proper planning is one of the major reasons for failure of a business. A survey by Michigan CFO Associates on 500 firms states that 99 percent of small business had no written plan for growth. They are ‘driving without a map’ risking their companies. Web research helps small businesses to predict future trends and helps them to be aware of issues. This makes them prepare for both positive and negative outcomes that may occur in the future. As web research predicts future trends and issues, it helps in planning the budget accordingly to avoid unexpected surprises.

Helps in pricing the products
Most small businesses do improper pricing of their products in order to gain more profits or to sell more products. These kinds of false beliefs will result in loosing out a business opportunity. Statistics state that only 23% of businesses price their products or services properly. Web research provides the crucial information on the pricing of the products. It helps you understand how much consumers are willing to pay, what is the pricing structure of your competitors etc.

Provides information on competitors
One of the important things a small business owner needs to remember is that his company faces local, national as well as international competition. Many small businesses succumb to the intense competition in the globalized business environment. In order to survive and sustain, it is necessary to be aware of the competitors’ business strategies and developments. Web research could provide key information such as strengths, weaknesses, products, pricing, distribution etc. of the major competitors.

Less investment on research
Though some of the small business owners are aware of the advantages of market research, they are not willing to invest in it, as quality market research is expensive. However, the fact is web research that can provide crucial information is inexpensive. Generally, business owners presume that research means only primary research, which is expensive. Though web research is not a complete alternative to primary research, it can satisfy the basic needs of the research. Many of the small businesses owners are running their companies without necessary information needed for sound decision-making. At least, they can be directionally accurate with the help of web research.

Small business owners and executives can use Internet to find information. However, this can be done only for small data requirements. To get reliable information, analysis and expert suggestions to make serious decisions, they need the help of qualified specialists. This is where professional web research helps small businesses to take well-informed decisions.

Wild and Original Printing Tips for the Bored Designer

Posted on February 22, 2010 | Filed Under Online Marketing

Need some new ideas in promotional or commercial printing? Well look no further since in this article I just have a couple of wild and original printing tips that might just help you out. Just try to copy or remember the printing tips below and you should be printing wild and unusual things for your campaign that should make the business look better.

• Print with special ink – Did you know that there are other types of inks besides the usual ones used in your printed materials? Yes besides the typical four color printing process with the four color ink combination, there are other processes that add in special properties to your printing. The best example of this is the use of metallic inks.

Metallic inks basically are specially coated inks that add that glitter or gleam quality to the print. So more or less they might look like they were made of silver, gold or copper. This is a really wild idea perfect for special promotional printed materials such as posters, flyers and even brochures.

• Custom shapes and dimensions – You should also know that in today’s printing world, anything can be done. Anything that your imagination thinks of can be printed. So if you want extra large prints of a certain kind such as a catalog or something you can actually customize your printing for that. You can also request most printing companies to change the shape of your print material to something specific. As long as you give the initial materials correctly, it is possible to really vary the size and shape of your prints. Again this is perfect for promotional materials where imagination and impact is key.

• Using the paper materials to make things look different – You might also want to try to use a totally different paper material to make your printing look different. For example, you can try using textured paper on your posters, or you can use thick glossy paper finishes on your business card. The paper can really add a different aura to your design, and there are quite surprising and powerful results if you use it well.

• Go beyond two dimensions in printing – Finally, if you really want to go wild, why not go beyond the two dimensions in printing. With this I mean you should try to envision using pop-up printed materials or embossed printing materials. Adding that third dimension to printing adds a more real feel to these materials making them quite more memorable than most other prints out there. It might require special printing techniques and some more money, but it really is a good idea and you might want to try it.
So if you are bored, why not try the ideas above for prints. Hopefully these printing tips should also give you some inspiration in trying out new things for printing.

Great Promotional Printing Tips for the New Year

Posted on February 22, 2010 | Filed Under Online Marketing

Need some promotional printing tips for the new year? Well look no further. In this article, I will give you a few very successful printing tips that should help you print promotional materials better and give them the attention that they deserve. There are four main tips you should know really.

• Always printing a personal and a public promotional color print – Promotional printing must always be done with a two pronged approach. There should be an approach to the individual and the approach to the mass audience. This lets you cover a market more completely while still being able to get your message to the most important people in that market.

To do this, you will need to print something for public promotions. Posters are the best example of this kind of printing. Afterwards, you also need to go for the personal or the individual. So you should also print things like brochures or flyers to be able to promote to a specific persons. Doing this covers a lot of different aspects in printed promotions giving you the best chances of success.

• Rotating between different printed promotional materials – Another great tip is to try rotating between printed promotional materials. If you guys used plain old flyers at first, why not go for new brochures instead? If you are already bored with brochures, why not go for something completely different like a door hanger. By constantly changing your equipment and rotating through them, you keep your yearly promotions quite fresh looking and interesting.

• Print in bulk to get wholesale discounts – You should also remember to always print in bulk to get wholesale discounts. Don’t just print little batches that will cost a lot more per piece. Bulk orders get better discounts and you maybe even be able to save at most 20% your normal printing cost. So if you need to promote something or distribute an important printed material it is best to order in bulk and get the benefits.

• Online color printing is always one the best option – Finally, you should know that online color printing is always a good option to use. Not only does this make the ordering procedure faster, this also gives you the ability to print professionally accepted prints all from your home. It can be very convenient.
