Are You Frustrated Trying to Make Money Online?

Internet Business “gurus” and their product offerings make
it sound easy. But the truth is that most people who setup
an internet business to make money fail. They never make
more money than they spend.

All the hyped up sales pages, and so much of the
information that’s out there, gives the impression that you
can throw up a web page and make millions overnight. If
you’ve been in the business long enough to have a large
mailing list, thousands of people who read your blog or web
site, and honed marketing skills, you certainly can do
that, time and time again. But NOT if you’ve just created
your first web site and made your first product. Just like
in so many areas of life, there are no overnight successes.

So many people who try get frustrated when they don’t make
any sales or have trouble getting traffic. They jump from
idea to idea, from product to product, from this “guru’s”
advice to that “guru’s” advice. They buy product after
product looking for answers. Finally they give up, very
frustrated and very disillusioned.

However, the internet does give you the ability to make a
lot of money. You have to be smart and follow those who’ve
paved the way. If you do, you can create income streams and
not spend all day working.

Here are 20 things that can help you stay on track:

1. Pick something you believe in and are passionate about
as the center of your online efforts.
2. Be consistent.
3. Honesty wins out in the long run.
4. Take advice trustworthy sources, but think for yourself.
5. Follow a successful person, not forum junkies.
6. Google PR is NOT important.
7. You should have some basic HTML skills.
8. Always test your site, copy, ads, etc..
9. SEO is important but not more so than quality.
10. Links into your site are more important than SEO.
11. An subscriber list is as important as SEO and Links.
12. Interaction with your readers will build links and
subscribers.
13. Quality is important to getting loyal readers.
14. Quality products are important to repeat sales.
15. Getting repeat sales is important to long term profit.
16. It’s easier to keep a customer than get a new one.
17. Interact with fellow bloggers and web sites operators.
18. Your numbers (subscribers, traffic, and links) will
grow over time.
19. Leverage the work of others.
20. Don’t buy every Internet Marketing type product that
you see.

In future posts on my blog I’ll explain each of these ideas
in depth.
