Using Article Marketing to Create Continuous Evergreen Traffic

Marketing via articles is one of the best forms of
free advertising on or offline that is available for
bringing new visitors to our websites.
Why is that you ask?
Writing articles can lead to increased visitors to
your website. The main reasons youre writing an
article is for people to read and learn about your
topic and you. After writing an article you want it
published of course. Getting it publshed is how
youre going to drive traffic to your site.
If you know your target market then the hardest
part of the work has been done for you - that of
assembling a list several thousand individuals to
read your article.
Youll want to submit it to ezine publishers, article
directories and create a webpage on your site to
display it and to submit to the search engines.
There are several things to consider if you decide
to write and submit articles to ezines. The format
for writing the article itself, finding ezines to submit
it to and figuring out the right way to submit it to
publishers so that it gets an above average chance
of being used by the publisher.
Writing is hard work. At least for me that is. I tend
to generally keep up with how the internet is evolving
and develop an article from changes that I see going
on.
Writing articles for ezines takes on a basic format that
you should become familiar with.
If you havent already subscribed to several good, high
quality ezines do so immediately. You want to review
the articles in them so you can get a basic idea of the
layout of an article that publishers expect when you
submit an article to them.
Youll notice it has:
- A Title
- The Authors Name
- The Body or Content of the Article
- An Authors Resource Box
- Sentences are under 65 characters per line
Those are the five main components of articles that
are typically submitted to ezine publishers. Your best
bet is not to vary from it in your initial writing efforts.
Lets take a look at each one of those components.
** The Title **
Often times you may not even come up with a good
attention grabbing title until after you have finished
your article. If you have a general idea of what your
article is going to cover it may be helpful later on if
you jot downn some ideas right away.
**The Authors Name **
Hey you should be able to come up with this on your
own. Include yours just under the title of your article.
** The Body or Content **
By far the most important aspect of your article. The
best articles address some kind of problem or concern
that readers may be experiencing and are looking for
help, guidance or a solution for. If you have identified
a bonafide problem take the time to do the research
to find a solution for it.
The solution could be in the form of a unique solution
you yourself have found, an existing one that few people
know about or you could provide several solutions from
which the reader can choose the one best suited to their
needs.
Some good articles also address concerns of people in
certain areas of their life or business for which there is
no clear cut solution. If you can present the facts, known
or obscure data that will keep a reader informed on the
subject or help them come to a conclusion on their own,
it will work just as well.
Within the article it is always a nice affect if you can
provide some online resources or links that a reader can
use to help solve their own problem or gather information
from which they can draw their own conclusions.
Keep in mind that you are not writing your article(s) for
the fun of it. At least I hope youve given some thought
to what you want to accomplish using this method.
Your main purpose is to get a few if not several hundred
of those readers to visit your website so that you can
present them with your own offers for subscribing to
your ezine, joining your affiliate program, membership
site or buying one of your products.
Your efforts should be in presenting a good quality
article to the publisher. Take your time writing about
the subject youve chosen. Clearly the best method
of writing on the internet is a personal, one-to-one
approach to writing, write as though youre talking
to a friend or relative you know very well.
** Authors Resource Box **
This is your byline. This allows everyone who reads
your article to learn more about you and your business.
Youll include it at the end of your article and it should
contain a short description of your site, product or
service you offer, along with your url.
Its the second most important section of your article.
Here you can put between 4 to 6 lines of text. This is
the only acceptable format for advertising yourself,
your website, ezine, product, etc. Describe it in as
great a detail as you can get into these few lines.
Publishers will exercise their own judgment and may
shorten it to meet the standard criteria they have set
for all submitted articles.
Here are some more Quick Tips to remember about
writing your article:
- Keep your sentences and paragraphs short
- Use action words throughout your article
- Use examples from your own experience
- Write as though youre talking to one person
- Personalize your message
- Use plenty of white space
- Use small understandable words
- Use subheadings
- Dont hyphenate words at the end of sentences
Just one good article on a subject that is relevant to
your target market and the target market of the ezine
that youre trying to get it published in, will produce
some great publicity for you. Invite publishers of ezines
with similar interests as yours to publish the article.
You really dont want to slant it towards one of your
products, an affiliate program or have your own links
plastered throughout your article. Most experienced
publishers will recognize that kind of writing for what
it is - a cheap effort to advertise a product at their
expense - and it won't get published.
Think about it - if a publisher wanted to see a product,
etc promoted in his ezine he would put one of his own
in it - not some stranger he has never met. Dont try
to disguise an advertisement for one of your products
as an article. Most publishers will see right through
this scheme.
The length of your article should probably be between
400 to 1000 words. Any less than 400 doesnt give
enough depth to a subject. Any more than 1000 can
be too long for some ezine publishers who try to keep
the content of there ezine to a maximum size for
purposes of distribution and reader attention.
OK, so youve got your article written and its a gem
and you know everyone will want to read it. Two things
you now need to focus on - finding publishers and
getting publishers to look at it.
The easiest place to start looking for publishers is in
your own email program. Have you subscribed to any
ezines? If so how many? If not - why not? If you havent
subscribed to a lot of them then you need to go forth
and subscribe to as many as you can.
The reason you want to do this is to build a database
of ezines that are similar to your target market and at
the same time become familiar with the ezines format.
You can also do a search on google or any of the other
major search engines to look for ezines and article
directories that your article would be appropriate for.
Here are a few article directories to get you started:
goarticles.com
ezinearticles.com
articlecity.com
article-emporium.com
Well how do you get your article accepted in ezines?
Guess what? As long as youre in the writing mood,
youre going to have to write a short email to each
publisher and ask them to publish it. Or you can
invest in member only sites or software that will
automate this process for you.
Im including a sample email template for you to look
at. My experience is that you modify the text and
personalize any template to your own style and writing.
Using a template as is from a resource like this soon
becomes recognizeable and automatically deleted by
most publishers who receive it. Use your imagination
when you draft your own letter.

Blog Promotion: 7 Strategies That Work

Posted on October 8, 2008 | Filed Under Article Marketing, Blogging, Online Marketing, Traffic Generation, Website Tips

By Jack Humphrey

I just finished looking at my stats and thought I would show you where my traffic is coming from and what marketing tactic I used to get it.

Below are only the things that produced visitors to my site in the last 48 hours. Nothing theoretical whatsoever.

1) Search Engines

Yesterday was my biggest day yet with this new site platform and the performance is unlike anything I have ever experienced before.

I had more search engine traffic from more phrases in one 48 hour period than ever.

From very nice short tail keywords like “video syndication” to fat long tail phrases like “how to get more friends on myspace.”

And everything in between.

How do I do so well in the engines?

I use the very best publishing system on Planet Earth. Nuff said.

2) Article Syndication

LOL – right? Wrong. Article syndication is still a very powerful traffic driver if you do it properly.

Rather than try to be on every article directory on the web, I go for the most important article directories on the web.

I also write the best content I can on highly relevant, topical, hot issues in my niche.

I do not wirte and syndicate articles for links. I write for traffic. Huge difference most people completely ignore.

I syndicated this article over the weekend and am getting traffic from the following article sites:

* GoArticles.com
* Ezinearticles.com

I will get traffic from many others, but I am only showing you today what happened to drive real targeted traffic in the last 24 hours. (People don’t do this anywhere else that I know of by the way!)

I syndicate my articles exclusively with SubmitYourArticle.com.

3) News Readers

Because I have several feeds to choose from, and a wide range of related topics I publish on, I have feed subscribers on all kinds of readers.

In the last 24 hours I have gotten traffic from people using feed readers from:

* Yahoo
* Google
* Bloglines
* Delicious, and
* different versions of desktop readers like MyWebTop.com.

4) Links

I’ve gotten significant traffic in the last 48 hours from sites such as:

* BradFallon.com
* CreativeBits.org
* WillieCrawford.com
* MichelFortin.com

and many many others.

These are link partnerships or just people pointing to specific posts here and commenting on their blogs.

The better your content, the more people comment and trackback your site. So good content equals good link traffic.

5) TrafficSwarm

I get a good amount of traffic each day from TrafficSwarm, which is no new kid on the block.

I have tested the traffic from this service and opt-in rates are good, meaning the traffic isn’t junk traffic, if you were wondering.

They have a free and paid version. Don’t bother with it on the free level. It is extremely inexpensive traffic compared to Adwords and Co-registration, and there are other benefits of membership aside from direct traffic and subscribers.

6) Video Syndication

I have been doing screen capture blog marketing videos lately and syndicating them on all the free video sharing sites available.

Since I started (I have only done 4 so far) I can attribute top 10 rankings in Google for terms like “blog marketing videos” and many others to this marketing tactic alone.

Since video sharing sites are all popular (none of the sites I syndicate videos to are under PR5, most PR6 or higher) the links are worth a lot and the traffic is great each time I submit a video.

Video syndication will be one of the buzz phrases of 2007. Glad I am in the top 10 for that phrase too!

7) Tagging and Pinging

Or simply posting properly and showing up automatically (and practically instantly) in places like Technorati which track blogs, is a big daily traffic driver.

Right after I post this I will see traffic from Technorati and other sites that I ping.

Kind of encourages me to post regularly knowing every post brings me more traffic and another chance to score in the engines for more keywords.

If you don’t know how this is all done, the best information available on the subject is from Sean Wu.

Again, the above tactics all resulted in real, live, free targeted traffic to the Friday Traffic Report in the last 48 hours.

Thought you’d like to see what is working based on my actual log files rather than more theoretical pieces from people who don’t necessarily use the tactics they push to drive traffic to their own sites.

A Link Building Campaign

Posted on September 4, 2008 | Filed Under Article Marketing, Online Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Traffic Generation, Website Tips

If you have a website and you are wondering how to raise your search engine rankings, I have here listed a couple of ways you can start with your link building campaign.

For a new site, I usually start with submitting my website details to the search engines then to the web directories. This is a one time task because submitting more than once will cause to the banning of your site from most of the directories and it unloads some weight off my shoulders when I see that i am done with the submissions since I know i wont be doing it again. I also keep a track of the submissions so if after sometime, I see there are new web directories emerging i could still add up to my list and to make sure i haven’t double submitted to a single web directory.

The second approach i have is creating an article and about my products and or my website and submit the article to the article directories. This is actually an unending tasks, because when you finished submitting your article to all the article directories in your list, you can just come up with another article and start submitting your new article to the article directories. With one submission you can get a minimum of 3 backlinks. This method is also cool if you are promoting like 2 to 3 websites at the same time. According to some sources this is a really effective way of earning good quality backlinks.

The next approach for me is forum signature linking. Though it seems it is kinda easy to, but for me this is the hardest. You might be getting instant backlinks but thinking for what to write and what forums to concentrate on is the hardest part. I guess those who are really comfortable with writing will enjoy this method best. For this method, just make sure the forums you are joining don’t use rel=”"nofollow”" attribute.

Another good approach will be blog commenting. In this approach all you have to do it to find blog posts related to your website or to the product you are selling then join the discussion and place a link going back to your site. The hardest thing in this approach is finding a blog post related to your website.

The new technique now is the social bookmarking, In this approach you have to create an account on a social bookmarking website and tag links of your website. This is really easy and fun to do, you can even do this after you have finished the web directory submissions since it is also a one time job.

But the best method for me is media marketing. This method is kinda time taking and is the hardest for me. In this method you have to create an online community where you can reach them directly and convince them to use your service and have them promote your websites to the non-users.

Link building is a really time taking job. You have to make sure you continue on doing link building even after you have a nice place in the search engine results. Because if you stop your ranking will also go down. Aside from being time taking, link building is also a really boring time. That is why most webmasters and site owners don’t spend their valuable time just to do link building. They usually outsource someone to do it for them so they can save lots of time or money. You can find plenty of sites that offer link building services. Most of the sites only specialize in directory submissions. I prefer virtualinkers for manual directory submission service. With virtualinkers all you have to do is to provide the data needed for the submission and nothing else. While they are working on your directory submissions you can do other important things and still get the best results.

For an affordable and reliable manual directory submission service visit Virtualinkers.

An Affordable Marketing Tool – Article Marketing

Posted on August 27, 2008 | Filed Under Article Marketing

If you are using the Google Keyword Tool, you will see how
many searches were done each month for certain keywords. When these
keywords are entered into the search boxes of search engines, indexed
pages containing written articles containing these keywords are
returned and displayed. The searcher then clicks on the link and goes
to the site with the keyword rich article. Online, content is king and
the best way to generate indexable content is by writing articles
whether for a blog or for article directories.

Content is king. Content is
king. You can’t say it enough. Content is the reason why writing
articles is one of the best and most used techniques in internet
marketing today. Web surfers can’t get enough information about what
they are interested in, whatever that may be. Providing timely, useful
information to surfers is a guaranteed way to herd targeted,
interested traffic to your website or blog.

Why is this the case? Here are a few benefits
article writing can give to your online business and help you make
money online.

1. It’s absolutely free.

Too good to be true? Not. Okay, you have to pay for your Internet
Service Provider. That’s it. All you need is your thoughts, your
computer, and your hands. If you have those, nothing will stop you
from typing words that will make you complete that article for your
website. On which aspect of that process did you really shell out any
cent? Maybe later when your electric bills come.

2. Your website will be noticed in a short period of time.

Sending
your articles to article directories that receive a lot of traffic
will guarantee that in no time your site will be crawled by spiders.
You have to remember to include your byline or resource box so the
spiders know where to find you!

3. One way links.

After you submit
your articles to article directories, hopefully other sites will make
use of your articles too. With the enforceable copyright terms of your
articles, the backlinks to your website will still remain intact and
those links will help direct even more traffic to your website.

4. Improve your reputation.

As
an internet marketer, if you boldly display your products and services
on your site, you will not have a very high conversion rate. Traffic
resulting in a sale is a conversion. To get your conversion rate up
you have to show that you are knowledgeable in your chosen field.
There’s no better way than by writing informative, useful articles to
establish yourself as an expert.

Just make your creative juices flow and jot down or key in those
ideas quickly to jumpstart your article writing momentum. With those
benefits listed above, a writer’s block is the last problem you want
to surmount.

3 New Methods For Article Marketing Success

Posted on July 30, 2008 | Filed Under Article Marketing

It’s amazing how much information is circulating around the
Internet on how to conduct an article marketing campaign.
Unfortunately most of these methods focus purely on dumping
large amounts of recycled, re-worded and junk content on
various article directories all over cyberspace, while this
method may garner a few links it certainly falls short of
delivering quality content to readers in your target
market… readers that will be warmed up to your offer and
ready to buy!

Unlike the popular methods of the day my approach is quite
the opposite but the results speak for themselves as I
consistently have traffic coming in from articles written
months prior. Here are a few tools from my article
marketing toolbox to incorporate when ramping up your
article marketing efforts.
